Pregnancy & Childbirth

How can Homeopathic treatment help with pregnancy and childbirth?

A healthy diet together with Homeopathic support gives the foetus the optimum start to life. Homeopathic remedies can help to eliminate:

  • Morning sickness
  • Headaches
  • Exhaustion
  • Anaemia
  • Cramps and restless legs
  • SPD
  • Varicose veins
  • Turning of breech and other mal-presentations

Later on, it is useful to have a Homeopathic Child Birth Kit with some essentials to help the birth progress smoothly with minimum intervention. Any particular areas of concern can be discussed in conjunction with your midwife to ensure that you feel in control and are well informed of all your options.

During labour

Giving birth is a remarkable, empowering time in a woman’s life. For the majority there are no major problems. However, when a gentle helping hand is needed Homeopathic remedies can encourage your body in the right direction.

For example, the remedy Caulophyllum can encourage dilation of the cervix and help increase the strength of contractions, thus avoiding invasive medical intervention. Aconite is useful at reducing anxiety levels and helping the mother focus positively on her labour.

Post Labour

Homeopathic remedies assist the post-partum healing process and prevent infection. They can also work on an emotional level, helping the parents adjust to their new journey in life.

Conditions treated:

  • C-sections and episiotomies
  • Post-natal blues/depression
  • Breast infections (Mastitis)
  • Soreness, bruising and after pains

A consultation can be tailor-made to suit your individual needs.

Reduced labour & less complications!

In a French randomised, double blind trial, a combination of homeopathic remedies Caulophyllum, Cimic, Arnica, Pulsatilla and Gelsemium, were used to determine their effect on the length of labour and complication rates. The remedies were given twice a day from the beginning of the ninth month of pregnancy. The women taking the homeopathic remedies reduced their time in labour by an average of over 3 hours to approximately 5.1 hours compared to the placebo group who had an average labour time of 8.5 hours or longer.

Additionally, the rate of complications were reduced – for those using the homeopathic combination they were only 11.3% while the complication rate under placebo was over 40%!
